Cookie Policy

The site sets no cookies of its own. Here is what it does store, and what third parties may add.

Last updated October 2, 2026.

This policy covers cookies and similar storage on macaddresslookup.app. It forms part of our privacy policy.

Cookies we set

None. The site itself sets no cookies at all.

This is a change from earlier versions of the site. The current version is entirely static and has no accounts, no sessions, and no server-side state to remember, so there is nothing for a cookie to carry.

Local storage we use

The mvl-theme preference records your light, dark, or automatic theme choice. mvl-language records a manual language choice; resetting it restores browser language detection.

Optional recent lookup history starts off. Enabling it stores up to 20 normalized addresses or prefixes and their last-used times in mvl-recent-lookups-v1, only on this browser. A local cancellation marker prevents unfinished lookups from restoring entries after a clear; it stays in the same history record and is never sent anywhere. Clear saved lookups empties the list while leaving saving enabled. Switching off removes the history key. If storage prevents cleanup, the page reports that deletion could not be confirmed. The history list is never automatically queried, uploaded, synced, added to page URLs, or sent to analytics. Bulk logs, generator, inspector, and API input are not saved in it.

Local storage is not a cookie and is not automatically transmitted with requests. These preferences and optional history stay on this browser. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes them; themes and language then follow your system/browser preferences.

Third-party cookies

Where advertising or analytics are enabled on a page, Google's scripts may set their own cookies or read existing ones. Those are placed by Google, not by us, and are governed by Google's policies rather than this one. They are typically used to measure traffic, limit how often an advertisement is shown, and select advertisements.

Our content delivery provider, Cloudflare, may also set a cookie to distinguish automated traffic from real visitors as part of protecting the site from attack.

Refusing cookies

Every current browser lets you block cookies, block third-party cookies specifically, or clear them on exit. Because the site sets none of its own and needs none to function, blocking them entirely will not break anything here. Lookups, the bulk tool, the generator, and the API all work with cookies fully disabled.

An ad blocker or a content blocker will prevent third-party scripts from loading at all, which also prevents their cookies.

Changes

If we begin setting cookies of our own, this policy will be updated before we do so.
