Busiest parent prefixes
Small blocks are carved out of 24 bit prefixes. A handful of those prefixes act as shared pools and hold thousands of sub-assignments each, which is why a lookup has to match the longest prefix rather than the first one it finds.

How much space is left
A MAC address is 48 bits, which is roughly 281 trillion addresses. Half of that is unavailable straight away: the multicast bit and the locally administered bit each halve the usable space, leaving about 70 trillion universally administered unicast addresses. The 58,260 assignments on file reserve 676,614,574,080 of them, or 0.24% of the whole 48 bit space.
At the current rate the IEEE is in no danger of running out, which is the main reason the smaller MA-M and MA-S sizes exist: they let the registry sell to companies that would otherwise waste 16.7 million addresses on a product line of a few thousand units.
